The Mirror understands that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is relaxed over Steven Gerrard’s Anfield future, even though the midfielder is now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club.
The former England skipper, who announced his international retirement following a disappointing showing at this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil, has been with the Merseyside club for his entire career so far.
He is currently just thirteen shy of seven hundred club appearances in all competitions, while he has scored one hundred and seventy-eight goals on route to winning multiple major honours.
The one trophy that has eluded him is the Premier League championship, though he has helped guide the Reds to second place on two occasions, most notably last season when they finished just two points behind Manchester City.
A number of clubs have been linked with a move for the thirty-four year old, including MLS outfit New York Red Bulls.
