Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping Chelsea will consider allowing a loan move for starlet Josh McEachran to the Welsh club.
Rodgers was a youth and reserves team coach at the London club from 2006 to 2008 and is looking to discuss a potential loan move with the Blues for the England Under-21 star.
“I need to have a conversation at length [with Chelsea],” Rodgers said.
“(McEachran) is not playing at the moment, he is on the bench. He is a wonderful talent and the positive thing is that clubs see Swansea as a club that can develop such talents.”
“He has a big future, he played in the same team as my son right through the system at Chelsea and has kicked on since he turned 14.”
“He has got great vision, he is a terrific footballer and he needs to play in a certain system.”
“I think (Chelsea manager) Andre (Villa-Boas) and (sporting director) Michael Emenolo understand he will need to get some games and when that moment comes he is certainly a player who would do terrific here.”
Though the Swans boss realises his club could not purchase the midfielder in a permanent deal, he hopes his connections with Villas-Boas’ side can facilitate a loan switch.
“All we can do is our best, we try to be in the market for the very best players,” he added.
“We don’t have the finances to buy such players but if it allows us to loan players then I would be confident in what we could give such a player.”
Swansea have enjoyed a mixed start to their return to the Premier League since being promoted from the Championship, and face Bolton in a must-win clash on Saturday.
