Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed he is planning to try and keep midfield pair Scott Sinclair and Gylfi Sigurdsson at the club.
Sigurdsson is currently on loan at the Liberty Stadium from German outfit Hoffenheim, and has become an instant hit with his team-mates and the supporters.
The Icelandic international has helped propel the Welsh side into eighth place in the Premier League and has made sure the team will be playing top-flight football again next season, with five goals in nine games.
Sigurdsson’s latest goals came in a comprehensive 3-0 defeat of Fulham at Craven Cottage, and Rodgers has spoken of his admiration for the player and how determined he is to bring him to Swansea permanently.
“We have spoken to his agent and I’ve made the chairman aware of my feelings but, ultimately, it’s whether Hoffenheim want to sell him,” he said.
“We needed a goal-scoring midfielder and he has fitted in well with this group of players.”
The former Reading boss is also hoping to tie down Sinclair after an impressive run of performances has shown the rest of the league just how good he is.
“There have been initial discussions. He’s very happy here. It’s not been put on the back-burner,” Rodgers said.
“He knows he’s in a great place to develop so, hopefully, we can agree a new deal.”
