Rodgers rules out January transfer splurge

The Mail Online understands that Brendan Rodgers has ruled out dipping into the January transfer window, with the Liverpool manager instead insisting the Mario Balotelli will turn his poor form around.

Despite their 4-1 win over Swansea City on Monday evening, the Reds have struggled for goals this season with only two coming from their strikers in the league so far.

Daniel Sturridge, who’s only strike so far came in the opening day win over Aston Villa has been injured since the third match of the season while Rickie Lambert has just one himself.

Balotelli is yet to score in the league, but Rodgers is certain that the Italy international will come good, while Sturridge is set to return to the fold next month.

Liverpool are eighth in the league, five points behind fourth place Southampton and can now be backed at a price of 6/1 to finish in the Champions League qualification places.
