Rodgers toys with Dyer return

Brendan Rodgers has a selection headache ahead of Swansea’s game with Tottenham on Sunday as Nathan Dyer returns from suspension.

The Swansea manager has opted for Wayne Routledge in the winger’s absence and he has impressed ever since, particularly in their away game against Fulham last week.

“It’s brilliant to see Nathan back,” Rodgers told the South Wales Evening Post.

“He was unfortunate to lose his place the way he did, but he is a terrific player for us.

“He is very dynamic, he puts defenders on the back foot and he brings that excitement and creativity we like.

“Whether he comes straight back in or not is one of those decisions you have to make as manager.”

Dyer was sent off against Wigan and since then Swansea have won three of their last four, and Rodgers admitted that the winger might have to take his place amongst the substitutes.

“Nathan might have to wait for a chance on the bench,” Rodgers said.

“The team have been fantastic if you look at March as a whole.

“Of course the (2-0 loss against) Everton was disappointing, but we took nine points from 12 overall.

“That is a fantastic return and Wayne has played a great role in that.”
