Rodgers wants Morgan to stay at Leicester

Leicester City will offer Wes Morgan a new deal, as manager Brendan Rodgers has informed the club he wants the club captain to stay at the club.

Morgan joined the Foxes in 2012 from Nottingham Forrest and went on to wear the club shirt 292 times and score 12 goals in all competitions, and he was one of the stalwarts of the team which stunned the football world by winning the Premier League title in 2016. The likes of Shinji Okazaki, Danny Simpson and Christian Fuchs, who were also a part of that glorious journey, find themselves in the same boat, but their respective futures are yet to be decided on.

At 35 years of age, Morgan’s current contract is set to expire at the end of this season, but despite being behind Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans in the pecking order at the moment, Rodgers has made it clear the captain still has a role to play.
