According to a recent report from Sky Sports News, Manchester City have agreed to pay the release clause of Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri. The player is said to be in contract talks with the Premier League champions, following months upon months of speculation over his future. The 22 year old has been the number one target for City manager Pep Guardiola in recent times, with the belief being that they wanted him to be the one to serve as their primary holding midfielder. The position is considered to be key in the wake of them missing out on landing Jorginho, who went to Chelsea.
Diego Simeone is eager to keep Rodri on the books, but as time goes on, it is seeming progressively more and more unlikely. His release clause of £61 million has swung the door wide open for him to finally make the jump and move over to the Premier League.
