According to AS, Real Madrid are preparing to make their move for Manchester City midfielder Rodri next summer.
Having won four Premier League titles, the Champions League, and now the European Championship with Spain, Rodri has arguably established himself as the best in the world in his position at the midfield base. With that in mind, reports crediting Real Madrid with interest in his services shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, but it’s important to point out that the contract binding the 28-year-old to Manchester City runs until the summer of 2027, which means Los Blancos will surely have to pay a vast sum to get the transfer done two years before its expiration.
Furthermore, Rodri apparently hasn’t ruled out signing a new contract with the Premier League champions, which would surely place him in the same wage bracket as Erling Haaland.
Still, at the Santiago Bernabeu they hope their good relationship with Rodri’s representatives and his potential wish to return to the city of his birth will act in their favour.
