Rodri tells Atletico he wants out

Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante, more commonly known as Rodri, has informed Atletico Madrid of his wish to leave Wanda Metropolitano this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old still has four years remaining on his contract, which means Atletico were in no hurry to sell, but two clubs, namely Manchester City and Bayern Munich, have expressed their readiness to pay his buyout clause, reportedly set at €70 million. Rodri was given a week to think things over, and now his representatives have informed club CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin that he wants to talk to other clubs.

Both the Bundesliga and the Premier League champions have very important players in the middle of the park reaching the twilight of their careers. City have struggled whenever 34-year-old Fernandinho was missing, while Javi Martinez (30) also needs a long-term replacement at the Allianz Arena.

If the two suitor clubs back the story up with concrete offers, it will come down to Rodri himself to decide between Munich and Manchester.
