Rodrigo to Real Madrid seems unlikely

According to Marca, Real Madrid are still pushing hard to make one more signing before the summer transfer window closes, but that signing isn’t likely to be Rodrigo. Julen Lopetegui is said to be a big fan of the Spaniard, but the 27-year-old could well be staying put at Valencia after all.

His release clause of €120 million has been viewed as a stumbling block by many, especially given that he appears to be in the best form of his life. Real managed to bounce back from their Super Cup loss to Atletico Madrid with an efficient 2-0 win against Getafe, but there’s still a long way to go this season as they attempt to reign supreme both in Spanish & European football.

Rodrigo spent part of his youth development with Real Madrid, before eventually switching to Benfica. Some English fans will also remember him for his brief loan spell with Bolton Wanderers.
