Rodriguez wanted Everton stay

According to a recent report from Fabrizio Romano, James Rodriguez has insisted that he wanted to stay at Everton.

The report also indicates that Rafa Benitez was the one who wanted him out of the door, but many Toffees fans have hit back against such a theory.

Rodriguez had his fair share of high points at Goodison Park but by the time he’d left for Qatar, there was a bad taste in the mouth of many supporters within the blue half of Merseyside. It’s not like it’s 100% the fault of either party, but more folks tend to struggle with believing what Rodriguez says.

Of course, there aren’t many fans out there who wanted Benitez to come in the first place, largely because it seemed like a strange appointment from the word go.

Whatever the case may be, this is going to go down as a big “what could’ve been” moment.
