Jack Rodwell’s three-match ban for his dismissal in the Merseyside derby has been rescinded by the Football Association.
The Everton midfielder was given his marching orders by referee Martin Atkinson just 23 minutes into Saturday’s Premier League clash, which Liverpool went on to win 2-0.
In a call that was widely deemed to be a harsh one, the youngster seemed to get the ball first as he slid in on Luis Suarez.
Everton appealed the decision and the FA announced on Tuesday that it has upheld Rodwell’s claim of wrongful dismissal, with the three-match ban withdrawn as a result.
