According to a recent report from Sky Sports News, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder as confirmed that former Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell is currently training with the club. Rodwell was once considered to be one of English football’s brightest young prospects, but after a few stagnant years, he has been unable to break his way back into the big time.
He seemed to be given that opportunity not so long ago when he started training with Roma, which was a move that seemingly came out of nowhere. The Italian giants were ready and prepared to form some kind of deal with Rodwell in order for him to serve as cover for them under the scrutiny of injuries, but when push came to shove, they didn’t want to go through with the deal.
Now, Rodwell could be ready to make an entirely different leap of faith by returning to the Premier League with Sheffield United – depending on whether or not they think he’s up to the task.
