Ellie Roebuck said it was a “dream” to return to football after she made her first appearance since suffering a stroke earlier this year.
The goalkeeper sustained a “left occipital infarct” in February 2024 before leaving Manchester City for Barcelona in the summer.
And she completed her return by making her debut for the Catalan club during Saturday’s 4-1 win over Real Betis.
Roebuck wrote on Instagram: “303 days later. The goal was always to play the game I love again and at times it felt impossible, but to do it for Barcelona is a dream.
“It’s been a journey. Thank you to everyone who’s supported me along the way. Nothing will ever beat this feeling.”
Roebuck has 11 England caps and was part of the Lionesses’ triumphant Euro 2022 campaign, backing up Mary Earps.
Her Barcelona side are dominating Liga F once again, sitting top of the table with 12 wins from 12 matches.
They are next in action against Hammarby in the Champions League and welcome Roebuck’s former club City to Spain next Wednesday.
