Roma agree to sign Gervinho

Sky Sport Italia is reporting that Arsenal have accepted an offer from Roma for Ivorian forward Gervinho.

The two clubs have been locked in negotiations for a couple of weeks now, but it seems a breakthrough has finally been made.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Arsenal have accepted a proposal worth €8 million plus performance related bonuses.

It is believed Gervinho had earlier agreed a four-year deal with the Giallorossi, with the Ivorian set to be reunited with coach Rudi Garcia at Stadio Olimpico.

As soon as he passes a medical in Rome, the player will fly to Boston to join his new teammates for a pre-season training camp.

Gervinho, 26, joined Arsenal two years ago from LOSC Lille, but has failed to prove his worth in the English Premier League.

The Ivorian could only score 9 goals in 46 Premier League fixtures, and he was constantly criticized for his profligacy in front of goal.
