AS Roma recently sacked Jose Mourinho and appointed former midfielder Daniele De Rossi in his place.

The 40-year-old got off to a fine start at his new job, leading the Giallorossi to a 2-1 victory over Hellas Verona at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.

Romelu Lukaku and Lorenzo Pellegrini had the home side two goals up by halftime. Michael Folorunsho restored some hope for the visitors with a spectacular long-range strike in the 76th minute, but they still didn’t manage to avoid defeat in the Italian capital. It should be said that Verona also wasted a penalty, with striker Milan Djuric earning the spot-kick before blasting it over the bar.
