Italian giants AS Roma plan to make Shakhtar Donetsk striker Luiz Adriano their first signing of the summer transfer window, Il Corriere dello Sport can reveal.
The Giallorossi were unable to find an agreement with the Ukrainian side in January and instead decided to recruit Seydou Doumbia.
But, with Mattia Destro leaving to join AC Milan, Roma will attempt to make things right at the end of the season and finally complete the purchase of Luiz Adriano.
With the Brazilian’s contract due to expire at the end of the calendar year, the Giallorossi should have no problems finding an agreement with Shakhtar.
Luiz Adriano, 27, has spent last last eight years in Ukraine, scoring 73 goals in 157 league outings.
He has been especially impressive in this year’s Champions League, notching 9 goals in 6 appearances.
Luiz Adriano has so far earned two Brazil caps and a move to Roma should help improve his chances of keeping his place in the national team.
