According to a recent report from Fabrizio Romano, Roma are preparing to make a third bid in an attempt to sign Granit Xhaka this summer.
They’re said to be feeling pretty confident of getting a deal over the finish line with personal terms already being agreed. Xhaka, who is currently playing for Arsenal, put in a string of solid performances during Euro 2020 to help Switzerland reach the quarter-finals. Still, some wonder whether or not he’s still the right fit for the Gunners, especially given how poorly things went for them last season.
Jose Mourinho is the new manager of Roma which could add an extra dimension to this, given that he was in charge of Tottenham Hotspur in his last job – Arsenal’s rivals. It goes without saying that fans probably wouldn’t be happy with Xhaka if he made the switch to Roma but at the end of the day, he needs to think about what’s best for his own progression.
