Roma edge closer to Luiz Adriano

Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that AS Roma hope to wrap up the deal for Shakhtar Donetsk striker Luiz Adriano by the end of the week.

Having agreed to let Mattia Destro join AC Milan, the Giallorrossi have stepped up their efforts to recruit the Brazilian attacker and the agreement appears on the horizon.

Given that Adriano’s contract expires at the end of the calendar year, Roma have submitted a very tempting proposal, having offered €3 million for a six-month loan that would include obligatory €10 million buy-out clause.

The Giallorossi sporting director Walter Sabatini hopes to close the deal as soon as possible, and he has been frustrated with the Ukrainian club, seeing as they have yet to respond to said proposal.

Luiz Adriano, 27, has spent last eight years at Shakhtar Donetsk, making 154 league appearances and scoring 72 goals in the process, while bagging another 21 Champions League goals.
