Serie A pacesetters Roma are considering a move for Newcastle United’s Yohan Cabaye, the Mirror understands.
Manager Rudi Garcia, who worked with the France international for three seasons at Lille, is keen on adding another central midfielder as the club look to clinch a first league title in thirteen years.
The 49 year old is willing to pay £12m for the man who helped him clinch a Ligue 1 and Coupe de France double in 2011, before moving to the English top-flight with Alan Pardew’s men.
He was strongly linked with Arsenal during the summer, but remained with the North-East club despite seemingly pushing for a move.
Roma dropped points in league for the first time this season by drawing 1-1 with Torino on Sunday afternoon, though they remain three points clear of Napoli and Juventus.
They are currently second favourites behind Juventus to secure to Scudetto at a price of 2/1.
