Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Olympiakos defender Kostas Manolas is nearing a switch to AS Roma.
The Giallorossi expect to sell Mehdi Benatia to Bayern Munich in the coming days and they believe the Greek centre-back would be a good replacement for the Moroccan.
The Bavarians are reportedly looking to do a deal for some €27 million, while AS Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini does not want to sell below €30 million.
Meanwhile, Roma are set to make a move on Manolas, who remains available despite reportedly being close to joining Arsenal.
Following some impressive performances for club and country, the 23-year-old has become one of the hottest commodities in the summer transfer market and many are surprised that he is still an Olympiakos player.
After pushing Juventus all the way last term, AS Roma plan to mount a serious title challenge this season, and they are 2/1 shot for the Serie A trophy.
