Roma have opened talks with Ajax regarding the transfer of keeper Maarten Stekelenburg, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
With Alexander Doni set to complete a move to Liverpool, the Serie A side are on the look out for a new keeper.
They have singled out Ajax shot-stopper Maarten Stekelenburg as the perfect replacement with sporting director Walter Sabatini traveling to Amsterdam on Friday to start negotiations.
The 28-year-old is considered one of the best keepers in Europe and he even emerged as Manchester United target before the Red Devils agreed to sign David De Gea.
With his contract set to expire in year’s time, Ajax are eager to sell this summer with the Dutch giants reportedly asking €10 million for his services.
Roma are aware that €10 million is not too much for a player of his caliber and are determined to close the deal as soon as possible.
