AS Roma are stepping up their efforts to sign Fiorentina playmaker Borja Valero, according to Sky Sport Italia.
The Giallorossi believe that the Spaniard would be a perfect replacement for Miralem Pjanic and they are eager to lure him to Stadio Olimpico.
As a result, sporting director Walter Sabbatini has met with Valero’s representatives in order to be informed of the player’s wage demands.
However, even though the former Villarreal star is flattered by the AS Roma interest, it is believed that Fiorentina will do everything in their power to keep him at Artemio Franchi.
Valero has been one of club’s star performers ever since he joined from Villarreal four years ago, going on to score 15 goals and set up another 34 in 172 competitive outings for Viola.
The 31-year-old is also on the radar of AC Milan, but AS Roma are clearly the favourites to secure his signature.
