French daily L’Equipe understands that Laurent Blanc is negotiating with Roma chiefs regarding a coaching job at Stadio Olimpico.
The Serie A giants sacked boss Zdenek Zeman after Friday’s 4-2 home defeat to Cagliari and they have been widely tipped to appoint the former France manager as his successor.
According to L’Equipe, the talented coach has had several discussions with the Roma officials, but the two parties have been unable to reach an agreement.
While Blanc is requesting an 18-month deal, the Giallorossi are only prepared to offer him a contract until the end of the season.
As things now stand, Roma officials will wait until the summer before they resume talks with the Frenchman, while interim manager Aurelio Andreazzoli is likely to lead the team until the end of the current campaign.
Laurent Blanc has been a free agent since leaving France in June, and has been linked with a number of vacant posts at top European clubs since.
