Roma join chase for Chelsea target

Italian giants AS Roma are weighing up move for Augsburg full-back Abdul Rahman Baba, Il Corriere dello Sport can reveal.

Signing a left-sided defender is one of the priorities for sporting director Walter Sabatini and the Ghanaian footballer has emerged as club’s top target.

Even if Baba prefers a move to Chelsea, he has accepted a five-year deal from AS Roma worth more than €2 million per campaign.

However, the Giallorossi are not prepared to match Augsburg’s €20 million asking price, but have rather offered €14 million.

Abdul Rahman Baba joined Ausburg from Greuther Furth last summer and he went on to make 31 league appearances last season, producing 4 assists in the process.

He has since been linked with quite a few top sides, including Chelsea, but his currently employers revealed few days ago they had yet to receive official proposal for the talented footballer.

Baba recently broke into the Ghana national team set-up and went on to start all six matches at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
