Roma join race for Zappacosta

AS Roma are reportedly weighing up summer bid for Atalanta full-back Davide Zappacosta, La Gazzetta dello Sport can reveal.

The Giallorossi look set to offload veteran Douglas Maicon at the end of the season and have started the search for a new right-sided defender.

And while they have already been linked with Bruno Peres and Matteo Darmian, the latest reports suggest Roma are also looking at Atalanta defender Davide Zappacosta.

The Italy Under-21 international is valued at €7 million, which is well within the Giallorossi’s price range, although they will attempt to further lower the asking price.

Davide Zappacosta, 22, has been in fine form ever since he returned from the loan spell with Avelino, making 24 Serie A appearances and scoring 3 goals.

His suitors AS Roma need to return to winning ways if they are to remain in the driving seat for the final Champions League berth and they can be backed at 21/10 to defeat Inter on the road.
