Serie A runners up AS Roma are showing interest in Sassuolo defender Federico Acerbi, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Giallorossi are almost certain to lose one of Kostas Manolas and Antonio Rudger, and they are in the market for defensive reinforcements.
Il Corriere dello Sport claims that Federico Acerbi has emerged as one of their top targets and he could now follow coach Eusebio Di Francesco to Stadio Olimpico.
AS Roma and Sassuolo officials spoke about the central defender during the meeting where Di Francesco’s departure was at the focus, and everything suggests an agreement will be reached soon.
The 29-year-old has another year left on his contract at MAPEI Stadium, but he is keen to prove his worth at the biggest stage after failing to do so at AC Milan.
Acerbi did well to get his career back on track since joining Sassuolo and even earned several Italy call-ups.
