Portuguese media outlet O Jogo has suggested that Italian giants AS Roma are considering a move for Benfica defender Maxi Pereira.
The highly rated footballer will be out of contract in the summer and he is almost certain to leave Estadio da Luz for greener pastures.
And with talks over a new deal falling through, Maxi Pereira is already thinking about life after Benfica, having spent last seven years with the Eagles.
AS Roma are one of the sides showing interest in the Uruguay international given that right-back Douglas Maicon is not getting any younger.
The Giallorossi will face stiff competition for the player’s signature, with Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, Napoli, Besiktas and few more top sides believed to be keen.
The 30-year-old joined Benfica from Defensor Sporting back in 2007 and has since made 191 league appearances and scored 10 goals in the process. He currently has 98 Uruguay caps to his name.
