Roma optimistic about De Rossi contract extension

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini believes that Daniele De Rossi will sign a new contract at Olimpico after all.

The player’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season and with little progress in contract talks, the player is widely tipped to leave next summer.

However, Sabatini remains optimistic that the Italy international will pledge his future to the club.

“He really wants to continue playing his football here, that is his strong desire,” Sabatini told reporters. “That wish corresponds with ours.

“An agreement, even if that will require some real hard work on our part, will arrive. There is a very high possibility that De Rossi will sign.”

De Rossi has recently expressed his desire to extend his current contract, but the two parties look unable to agree financial terms at the moment.
