Roma out of Cech race

The Express understands that Roma have pulled out of the race to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech after their current number one Morgan De Sanctis agreed a new contract with the club.

The 32 year old, who has been largely cast aside by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho since Thibaut Courtois returned to Stamford Bridge, is set to be the subject of a number of offers when the transfer window reopens in January.

Liverpool, Arsenal and AC Milan have all been linked with a move to secure his services, though he will not be reuniting with former Blues man Ashley Cole in Rome.

Cech joined Chelsea in the summer of 2004 and has since racked up four hundred and seventy-five appearances for the club in all competitions, winning a whole host of major honours along the way including three league titles, four FA Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League.
