A.S. Roma have announced the signings of free agent left-back Ashley Cole and Fenerbahçe midfielder Salih Uçan.
Cole, 33, joins the club via free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Chelsea.
The England international, who had been targeted by Liverpool earlier this month, has penned a two-year deal at the Stadio Olimpico, with an option for a third.
Cole made just 17 English Premier League appearances, including 15 starts, for the Blues last season, losing his first-team place to Spain international César Azpilicueta.
Meanwhile, Uçan has agreed a season-long loan deal with the option of securing a permanent move for €4.75 million.
“A.S. Roma S.p.A. would like to announce that it has agreed a loan deal with Fenerbahce Futbol A.S. for the player Salih Uçan for a fee of €4.75 million,” read a statement on Roma’s official website, asroma.it.
“The contract is valid for the 2014/15 season and includes an option to extend the loan for another year, at no additional cost, and sign the player permanently from the 2016/17 season for a fee of €11 million.
“Salih Uçan has therefore signed a 5-year contract, which expires on 30 June 2019.”
Uçan, who joined Fenerbahçe from Bucaspor for €1.4 million in 2012, has bagged four goals in 42 appearances in all competitions for the Turkish Süper Lig giants.
Tom Ince joins Hull City
Hull City A.F.C. have completed the signing of highly-rated England youth international midfielder Tom Ince from Sky Bet Championship side Blackpool on a free transfer.
Ince, who spent the second half of the 2013/14 campaign on loan at Crystal Palace, had been linked with a number of ‘bigger’ European clubs after leaving Liverpool for Lancashire in 2011.
Since Ince is under the age of 23, Blackpool will receive ‘compensation’ for the player, with reports suggesting the Seasiders will ask a transfer tribunal for £8 million for the 22-year-old.
Note: Crystal Palace paid the Tangerines £1.5 million for a five-month loan deal last season.
“At my age and at this time in my career I wanted to show what I could do in the Premier League,” Ince told Sky Sports.
“I have unfinished business at this level. I spent a great six months this year at Palace and like I say, this could hopefully be my first full season in the Premier League.
“Further down the line in years to come when I get older, maybe in my career if that opportunity to play abroad is still there then of course it will always be something on my mind that I want to do.
“Sometimes you have to go with your heart and to be given an opportunity to play again in the Premier League is a fantastic opportunity for me and one that I’m relishing.
“I’m no different to any other player, I’m going in to Hull City to work hard and try and grab one of those shirts.”
After reaching the FA Cup final last term, Hull will enter the UEFA Europa League at round three of the qualifying stage.
