According to a recent report from Daily Star, Manchester United are not willing to lower their valuation for Chris Smalling – but Roma are still hopeful.
The Serie A side took the Englishman on loan last season and he enjoyed a successful tenure, and while they did try and get the loan deal extended, it seems as if they’re going after something even better – a permanent transfer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seemingly made it clear that Smalling is not going to be at the forefront of the club’s plans for the new season, but they still don’t want to drop their price for him lower than the £18 million they had set.
Smalling’s career has been through a parade of ups and downs over the years but one thing that has remained the same is the potential many believe he has. Now, it’ll be interesting to see whether Roma can continue to turn that potential into true consistency on the big stage.
