According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Roma are struggling to get a potential deal for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling over the finish line.
The centre-back has enjoyed a successful spell out on loan with the Italian giants, but with United sticking a €20 million fee on him, Roma are scrambling to try and find the cash they need to make it happen.
Smalling has quite clearly enjoyed the time he’s spent in Rome this season, but up to this point, it’s not been entirely clear whether or not the Red Devils are desperate to have him back.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be well aware of the talent that he possesses, but just because he’s been able to thrive in Serie A doesn’t mean he’ll be able to translate that success back over to the Premier League.
Either way, though, this feels like a saga that’ll go on for quite some time.
