AS Roma reached the Champions League semifinal in the spring of 2018, but their upcoming season did not end as well. They fell out of Serie A’s top four places and will play in Europa League this season. Monchi left from the sporting director role, but it looks like the club from Italy’s capital will still be very ambitious once the campaign starts. Because Roma are chasing Toby Alderweireld.
Giallorossi are eager to get the Belgian centre-back from Tottenham Hotspur and according to Calciomercato, they are ready to make a €20m offer for him. Alderweireld’s contract with Spurs is getting closer to an end and several media have speculated that he has a release clause in his contract at around €25m. Whether that is truly the case, it remains unknown, but Roma’s interest in the player is clear.
The Italian side have already set out a four-year contract for the Belgian defender, but must agree terms with Tottenham first in order to get to that second part.
