Roma are on the verge of signing defender Ivan Piris from Sao Paulo, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Paraguayan defender was set for Sevilla switch just a week ago, but the Giallorossi appear to have managed to hijack the bid for the talented defender.
Il Corriere dello Sport claims the player has already agreed to join the Olimpico outfit and that he will put pen to paper after passing a medical in Trigoria.
It remains to be seen whether the Paraguayan will join Roma on loan or on permanent basis.
The Italian giants were looking to reinforce their back line following some shocking defensive displays last season and they seem to believe the arrival of Ivan Piris will bring much needed improvement in that department.
The 23-year-old only joined Sao Paulo last summer from Cerro Porteno, but he has done enough to earn himself a move to one of the top European clubs.
