Having lost out on Malcom to Barcelona in a highly disappointing fashion, AS Roma have turned their attention to Ajax’s David Neres, according to multiple sources.
Roma had agreed a deal with Bordeaux to sign Malcom, but at the last moment his permission to fly to Rome was withdrawn as Barcelona entered the fray with a bid of their own. Eventually, Roma had to pull out of the deal and they’re currently considering taking legal action against the Catalan giants.
Meanwhile, they are targeting Neres to fill the void in the squad.
Neres is a highly versatile attacking player, capable of performing well on either wing, as a central attacking midfielder or a centre-forward. He started his career at Sao Paulo, and after 11 appearances for them he moved to Amsterdam in 2016, where he has been constantly floating between Ajax’s reserve and first team. For the first team he has made a total of 48 appearances, scoring 17 goals in the process. Being a 21-year-old player with loads of talent, there’s much room for his improvement in the future.
