According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma are interested in bringing Porto midfielder Hector Herrera to the club. The Italian club have been desperate to make another marquee signing in order to capitalise on their Champions League heroics of last season, but they have thus far been unable to do so. Now, the 28 year old Herrera is being lined up as a possible replacement for Kevin Strootman who joined Marseille earlier this summer.
Herrera’s contract expires in June, although Roma don’t want to wait that long and instead are interested in making a move in the January transfer window. He could be available for as little as £8 million which would certainly seem like an absolute bargain to most, and given the current climate in the world of football as well as how unlucky Roma have been with some of their attempts to bring new players to the club, it seems like they should jump at this opportunity.
