(GSM) – Serie A club Roma have insisted that French defender Philippe Mexes will not be leaving the club in the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old centre-half, who has been linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico, has one year left on his current contract.
However, Roma director Giampaolo Montali denies that the former Auxerre man will leave the Italian capital, saying the club ‘believe in him’.
He told L’Equipe: “We are very attached to him, we believe in him.
“He still has a year contract with us and to extend it is our priority, I say it clearly and in the coming weeks we shall look. Mexes will not leave Roma in January because he is unsellable.”
