(GSM) – Roma striker Adriano doesn’t fear the competition for a place in the starting lineup after the arrival of Marco Borriello from Milan.
Adriano is expected to fall down the pecking order due to Borriello’s transfer and his continuing injury and weight problems.
However, the former Internazionale striker insists he’s happy at Roma.
“It won’t be long until I’m back and when I return I’ll be 100 per cent,” said Adriano.
“I feel good. I am recovering one step at a time. I am doing fitness work after my physiotherapy. I have spoken with the doctor and the coach and they want me to get back into peak condition.
“It might take a couple of weeks depending on what I feel like.”
When asked for his reaction to Borriello’s arrival, Adriano said: “Marco is an important player. He did well at Milan.
“On the other hand there are so many games to play that it can happen that someone isn’t healthy. Anyway, competition stimulates me.
“When there are phenomenal players in attack it’s difficult to compete with them, but it’s also a motivation to work more.
“I am someone who never gives up, wait before judging me. I already feeling people judging me, but I have still not played a game.
“Ranieri leaves me calm, we speak a lot. He is a great person.
“It will be important to win the Scudetto or the Champions League. We must think about winning and then we’ll see what happens afterwards.
“There are great players here. It’s an important group. I am very happy with the city too,” he concluded.
