The Express understands that Manchester United will sell Sergio Romero, even if they lose fellow goalkeeper David De Gea to Real Madrid.
The Argentina shot-stopper made his first club appearance since October is Thursday evening’s shock Europa League defeat to FC Midtjylland after De Gea was injured in the warm up.
That was only his sixth appearance of the season, and he could be set to leave after just one year in England with River Plate linked with a move to secure his services.
Real Madrid are expected to once again lodge a bid for De Gea when the transfer window reopens, meaning that United could be on the lookout for two new goalkeepers at the end of the season.
As well as their loss in Europe midweek, Louis van Gaal’s side were defeated by Sunderland last weekend to leave them six points behind the top four.
