Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu believes Fernando Torres is playing well despite his woes in front of goal.
Torres looked lively throughout Saturday’s 1-0 win over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge, and was unlucky not to find the net with a spectacular volley that crashed back off the crossbar in the build-up to Frank Lampard’s winner.
The 50 million-pound front man has now gone 15 games in all competitions without a goal, but Romeu believes his team-mate’s contribution to the team has been underrated.
“People used to say that if he doesn’t score then he is not playing good, but that is not true,” Romeu said.
“He is playing good and he helped us to get the goals.”
“He was playing very good in the game at Wolves and now he has played another big game for us. Every ball, he fights and he is a big player for us.”
“If he is happy, if he is enjoying it on the pitch then he is going to play better and he helps us much more than if he is not enjoying it on the pitch.”
“He is playing very good in the two last games and that is good news for us.”
