(GSM) – Olympiakos Piraeus have signed Dennis Rommedahl from Ajax. The Denmark winger was out of contract at the Amsterdam side and has signed a two-year contract at the Greek giants.

Rommedahl, who will turn 32 on July 22, was linked with several clubs after some impressive displays at the World Cup. Ajax wanted to keep him at the Amsterdam ArenA but he decided to move to Greece.

“I know that Olympiakos must reclaim the championship,” Rommedahl told reporters. “That is why I’m here. I know that Olympiakos is the biggest club in Greece. For the next two years we will be champions, if not for both seasons then for one at least.”
