Barcelona midfielder Ronaldinho has issued an astonishing plea for new Chelsea manager Felipe Scolari to sign him, so that the Brazilian can resurrect his career in England, according to The Sun newspaper.
The Sun claims that Scolari will contact Ronaldinho within the next few days to assess how the player would feel about a move, despite Scolari not taking over at Stamford Bridge until the 1st of July according to Chelsea.
ÂÂ
A move for Ronaldinho may present a huge risk for Scolari, after the Brazilian failed to live up to usual expectations in an injury plagued season at the Nou Camp.
ÂÂ
The Brazilian playmaker had been expected to sign for Manchester City some time next week after weeks of negotiations between Barcelona, Manchester City and Ronaldinho’s agent and brother Roberto de Assis.
ÂÂ
However, the chance to join former Brazilian coach Scolari at Stamford Bridge is more likely to appeal to the Brazilian, especially after the pair won the World Cup together.
ÂÂ
Ronaldinho’s agent Assis told The Sun: “At the moment Ronaldinho is taking a complete break at home in Porte Alegre.
“There are options for next season and obviously he knows Scolari very well and they have enjoyed great success together.
“We’ll see what happens but my brother will be ready for next season.â€Â
Barcelona are surprisingly very willing to sell after a troubled season with the Brazilian and new Barca manager Josep Guardiola is likely to want to build his own new team, with Ronaldinho not featuring in the Spaniard’s plans.
ÂÂ
The fee for Ronaldinho is expected to reach the £20 million mark, although neither Manchester City or Chelsea will have a problem affording the Brazilian, with Ronaldinho reportedly wanting over £120,000-a-week.
