It was announced on Tuesday by the Barcelona boss, Pep Guardiola, that Ronaldinho has no future at the Catalan club. Manchester City and Chelsea were the clubs rumoured to hold an interest in signing the Brazilian superstar, but interest from the MLS made its way to the English tabloids today.
According to the Daily Star, Ronaldinho has attracted the interest of LA Galaxy, the team where David Beckham currently plays his trade. The Galaxy would match the £20 million bid required to attain the services of Ronaldinho and would also offer him a monster salary to match that of David Beckham.
It is rumoured that Beckham is paid around £25 million per year, and should the Galaxy manage to offer that much money to Ronaldinho, it is unlikely that any European team would match that salary. Manchester City was rumoured to offer him £200,000 per week, but that amounts to about £10 million per year.
The only variable in the equation would be Ronaldinho’s willingness to play football at the highest level. A move to the Galaxy would be a step towards retirement for the Brazilian, but should he chose Manchester City, he would embrace a new challenge in a bid to tell the football world that he is not done.
