Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo will not face any disciplinary action after kicking out at Tottenham Hotspur's Michael Dawson last weekend, the Football Association announced here Monday.

Portugal winger Ronaldo appeared to flick a foot out at Dawson during Saturday's goalless draw at White Hart Lane in what was champions United's last Premier League match before they went to Japan for the Club World Cup.

Referee Mike Dean took no action during the match and, having reviewed the incident, was content to let the matter rest.

“We contacted the referee, who confirmed he didn't see the incident at the time and, having reviewed footage, he has also confirmed he would not have sent the player off for violent conduct had he seen it,” an FA spokesman said.

“On that basis, no further action will be taken.”

United will compete at the Club World Cup as the winners of last season's European Champions League.
