Ronaldo named in Portugal squad

Portugal manager Paulo Bento has included Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo in his squad for upcoming friendlies against Chile and Finland.

Bento, 41, has named the joint-top scorer in the La Liga in a 20-man squad that also includes highly-rated Fabio Coentrao from Benfica.

Defenders Pepe and Ricardo Carvalho – Ronaldo’s teammates at club level – have also been picked. Liga Sagres leaders FC Porto had their dominance recognised, with Rolando, Ruben Micael, Varela and Joao Moutinho included by Bento.

Portugal are second in Group H of Euro 2012 qualifying, with seven points from four matches.

They will face Chile on March 26 and then Finland three days later.

Full squad: Goalkeepers: Eduardo, Rui Patr?cio, Ventura. Defenders: Silvio, Rolando, Bruno Alves, Fabio Coentrao, Joao Pereira Pepe, Ricardo Carvalho. Midfielders: Ruben Micael, Joao Moutinho, Carlos Martins, Miguel Veloso, Paulo Machado, Nani, Ricardo Quaresma. Attackers: Cristiano Ronaldo, Helder Postiga, Danny, Hugo Almeida, Varela.
