Cristiano Ronaldo said he was angry with himself for missing some glorious opportunities in Portugal’s 3-2 Euro 2012 victory over Denmark.
The Real Madrid star missed multiple chances, including a notable one-on-one which could have comfortably sealed the points when they were 2-1 up with just over 10 minutes to go, only to see Nicklas Bendtner equalise moments later.
Portugal’s Silvestre Varela then secured three points late-on with a brilliant strike, but the former Manchester United man Ronaldo said he lost his cool after his personal profligacy.
“Yes, maybe I demonstrated I was angry at myself (after missing chances),” Ronaldo told Sport TV.
“I could have done better with the chances I had, but the important thing is that we are still in the race. Now we have to win our next match.
“When we were winning 2-0, we thought the game was practically in our hands. We had to score a third to kill off the game but we could not do it.
“We had a lot of difficulties but in the end we had the luck that we did not have against Germany, and we were able to win.”
Portugal have three points from two matches in Group B, and take on the Netherlands in their final group game in Kharkiv on Sunday.
