Brazil veteran striker Ronaldo said Sunday he is keen on one day becoming chairman of his club Corinthians.

The former PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and AC Milan forward is now winding down his career with the Sao Paulo league side.

But he said in a twitter post that taking the job on “would give me immense pleasure as I would be linked to football and to a club which I love. I think it’s something to think of in future.”.

His comment came after several hundred fans had protested about the side’s recent poor performances.

Ronaldo came back to Brazil to play for Corinthians last year after spending more than a year on the sidelines following yet another serious knee injury while trying to prolong his European career with AC Milan.

Knee problems have consistently dogged him – though he did make a triumphant return in 2002 to lead Brazil to the World Cup in Japan.

He has been working on his fitness in recent weeks while Corinthians, third in the table, struggle to keep pace with leaders Cruzeiro.

In February he extended his contract with the club but added he intended to retire at the end of next year.
