According to a recent report from Daily Mirror, Cristiano Ronaldo has asked his agents to begin work on a return to Real Madrid.
While it’s been heavily rumoured that the Portuguese star is going to be leaving Juventus sooner rather than later, a report in the last few days suggested the Real move was unlikely – and instead, he could end up back at Manchester United.
It’s interesting to note that his two former clubs are indeed the main contenders in the race for his signature with no other new teams making an approach. That’s not to say CR7 won’t pull a surprise on us, as he did when heading to Juventus, but it seems likely he’ll go to Madrid or Manchester if a departure is on the cards.
Even at the age of 36, Ronaldo is still widely considered to be one of the best players in world football – and his future could wind up being one of the most interesting stories heading into the summer transfer window.
