According to a recent report from AS, Dalian Professional forward Salomon Rondon has confirmed that he was at the heart of an approach from Manchester United during the January transfer window earlier this year.
The former Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion striker had been heavily linked with a return to European football but once the name Manchester United popped up, few could actually believe it. Many thought that the Red Devils were simply throwing as much against the wall as they possibly could in the hope that something would come up trumps for them, and in a way, it did through the signing of Odion Ighalo.
Still, it would’ve been interesting to see what would’ve happened if it was Rondon that managed to get the nod ahead of Ighalo – although he probably wouldn’t have welcomed the sort of pressure that comes with being an expected goalscorer for a club like United.
